At the beginning of March this year I started off as a trainee at Eurocontrol in the operational CDM (Collaborative Decision Making) team which is part of the Airport Operations and Environment Unit. Within this team I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience regarding airport CDM projects. This is mainly due to the time made available by colleagues to explain everything in detail. I found out that everybody is really helpful and I have had no problem finding my way around Eurocontrol.
There is a group of trainees who maintain a great contact ; we go for lunch together, have coffee from time to time and help each other (including me) in finding our way around Brussels. It is a great group that also has the opportunity to visit the Central Flow Management Unit and (?)or Upper Area Control Centre in Maastricht, organised by the HR department. Besides this, my department organised a trip to the Brussels Tower.
Most of my fellow students know where I am having my internship and know that it is a good position. I am a student of the Aviation Management course on the Hogeschool Van Amsterdam. There is a good chance that student s from Eurocontrol member states will be able to follow an internship at Eurocontrol. My advice is that if you have this opportunity and are interested in the world of aviation; do so.
